Intumescent Char Buys Time!

Activated by the temperature, the char dissipates the heat and prolongs the time before the wood ignites or the time that steel gets so hot that it changes it load bearing capability. Our intumescent paints are all water based, tested for Indoor Air Emissions, CE-marked and have an EPD. They are renowned for being easy to apply and they come with a full set of documents to prove their performance.

Nordic HW01 White

This is an intumescent paint designed for wood and wood-based substrates. It has fire classifications to B-s1,d0, REI30, EI60 with a Wet Film Thickness of 100 µm. This dissipates the heat and prolongs the time before the wood ignites. It is a water based, thin film paint that can be applied directly to untreated softwood.

Nordic HW02 Clear

An intumescent varnish designed for wood and wood-based substrates. It has fire classifications to B-s1,d0, K210, EI60 with a Wet Film Thickness of 100 µm each in 2 coats. It is a water based, thin film varnish that can be applied directly to untreated softwood.

Nordic Top White

This is a water-based topcoat that is tested and designed to work well with our fire protective paints. It can be tinted and is delivered in matt, satin or gloss. It is tested for indoor air emissions, and it has an EPD.

Nordic Top Clear

This is a water-based topcoat that is tested and designed to work well with our fire protective varnishes. It is matt, satin or gloss. It is tested for indoor air emissions, and it has an EPD.

Nordic HWAP Primer

This is a water-based primer that suits our paints. It is a thin film, water-based primer that provides seal and grip in one coat of 100 µm. If the wood you are looking to fire protect is previously painted, Nordic HWAP Primer is tested as part of our fire protective system on top.

Iris CHAR 21 Concrete

This is a low VOC, waterborne intumescent fire protection coating engineered for superior performance on concrete. With high solids content, strong char formation, and advanced nanofiller technology, it delivers a robust and stable barrier for fire resistance up to 3 hours. Suitable for pre-stressed and reinforced concrete, masonry partition walls, and other structural and non-structural elements.

Iris CHAR 21Plus

This is used for fire protection of constructional steel, providing fire resistance to fire for up to 90 minutes. It is a low VOC intumescent coating, providing an effective fire barrier and a stable low heat transfer char for effective protection. CHAR 21Plus has ETA 17/0180 and is CE marked. In indoor environments, no further topcoat is needed.
